The American Academy of Dermatology was founded in 1938. It is the largest, most influential and most representative dermatology group in the United States. With a membership of more than 17,500, it represents virtually all practicing dermatologists in the United States, as well as a growing number of international dermatologists. The Academy’s vision is: "Excellence in Dermatology” and the mission of the Academy is to promote leadership in dermatology and excellence in patient care through education, research and advocacy.

JAAD is dedicated to the clinical and continuing education needs of the entire dermatologic community and is internationally known as the leading journal in the field.

As the official publication of the Academy, Dermatology World reports on timely news and actions of the Academy, and provides members with legislative, regulatory, and socioeconomic news as it affects dermatologists, dermatology practices, and patients alike.
