Does the company resell any hardware?
Dell, HP, and IBM hardware can be quoted upon request. Allscripts is in the business of sourcing hardware for customers, and there are a lot of advantages to purchasing your hardware through Allscripts. Although hardware support is provided by the specific hardware vendor of choice, Allscripts’ Technical Support will triage issues, determine cause, and then facilitate communication to a third-party support provider if necessary.
Allscripts does not provide hardware warranties; terms and conditions applicable to the hardware are set by and provided by the applicable manufacturer. Typically our customers purchase extended warranties and on site service/support through the manufacturer.

Our teams help clients identify inefficiencies, errors, and areas to streamline their processes and workflow.
Do you recommend a graduated implementation or a big-bang implementation (all live at the same time) for your EHR?
There are 2 different implementation approaches, our standard 3D and our READY approach.
With our standard 3D Implementation, for like-sized organizations, the implementation period ranges from 6 – 9 months. This rollout is customer directed; and the timeline can vary based upon the number of locations, specialties, available resources, etc. Enterprise READY is a complete, proven approach that combines best-in-class recommendations for products, certified workflows and implementation.

Sufficient training and the appropriate training will help ensure successful roll-out and adoption. Practice staff must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and its basic concepts prior to EHR application training.

Enterprise is ARRA Certified as a Complete EHR and EHR Module. Previously, clients were guaranteed that we would achieve ARRA certification, so the guarantee is no longer relevant.

We have no formal guarantees at this time for Stage 2 and Stage 3, as they are still being specified. Allscripts fully intends to provide systems which are certified for Stage 2 and Stage 3, as those standards are developed.

How are drug allergies and adverse reactions recorded and integrated into the prescribing module?
Drug allergies and reactions are documented in the patient's allergy history. When a prescription is written, the application automatically performs a cross reference against the patient's allergy history and generates alerts immediately when the medication is selected.

Definition: A template is a pre-defined structured capability to rapidly record content including information on clinical conditions or vital signs through mechanisms such as menus, predefined fields or checklis
Templates are a key feature of Enterprise. The system comes with CareGuide templates and robust note forms for documentation. CareGuides offer the most commonly ordered items for a problem (problem based order-sets). To manage the CareGuide content we use clinical guidelines to determine what orders to include or exclude. Enterprise ships with over 1,500 robust, ready-to-use templates. These templates are updated automatically and new topics will be delivered on a regular basis.
Do you charge additional fees for any of templates?

Can clients customize existing templates?

The templates can be used as delivered or the content that is supplied to clients can be easily edited to meet your organization’s unique clinical practice guidelines. Enterprise contains a toolset to easily make any desired changes to templates. Updates and new templates will be automatically delivered to users, enabling you to review and change edits prior to releasing them to the entire organization.

What is the process for managing questions and service requests?
Allscripts provides 24x7 software support. Clients utilize the Allscripts client website for the online management of support requests, enhancement requests, training schedules & product documentation downloads, as well as company news & communications.

What are the options for a client to contact your company for support?

What level and type(s) of support are provided during go-live?
The Allscripts Project Manager and Implementation Consultant will be onsite for go-live at the first two sites. They will provide additional end-user support at these sites and assist with issue triage. They are onsite for 3–5 days. If additional resources are needed beyond the PM and IC, they can be provided for an additional charge. 30 days following first go-live, the Implementation Team will transition the account to our Support Team (provided there are no critical or high open issues).
Is a formal users' group, online community forum or other form of social networking community available?
Allscripts maintains a user group for sharing ideas and collecting suggestions for system enhancements. It is made up of rotating groups of customers, and meets approximately twice per year. Customers have set up their own regional user groups as well.
What are the standard hours of operation during which support is provided?
Support provided for critical issues M-F from 8am to 8pm ET. After hrs, calls are forwarded to a messaging service, where you may leave a detailed message and description of the problem. After hrs messages are returned within 60 mins of receipt of page.
What are the steps for a client to escalate a support request?
An escalation process is developed for the implementation period and then reviewed and revised after implementation. If you run into an issue that cannot be resolved by the dedicated account advisor or front-line support, the issue will be escalated to an internal group of senior engineers. This group quickly determines if they can resolve the issue or if the issue should be forwarded to Allscripts Development (for an application issue).

How are customer requests for enhancements and customizations handled?
Enhancement requests can be entered online at the MyAllscripts website, a project developed to create an online community for our clients. Our objective is to have more collaboration and consensus and less duplication around product enhancement ideas.
How are drug interaction tools updated in your system?
Users can be alerted to medication allergies and receive medication interaction warnings drawn from the Medi-Span drug database. Medispan provides updates weekly that we distribute through our delta process.
How are patient education materials updated in your system?
Each CareGuide template has a ‘Questions and Answers’ monograph section geared towards patient education. CareGuides are updated periodically to your server. The cost is included in your maintenance fee.
How are requests from clients handle for customizations of their system post “go-live”?
An online Client Website allows users to submit product enhancement requests at any time. These requests are compiled, prioritized by key users and finally voted upon by the Physician Advisory Board during its annual meeting.
Is remote monitoring available with the ability to alert clients about system problems?

The application has built in application error logging and also uses an external solution called SupportOne that monitors the application and the system servers for system health. If any problem is detected, our support center and the client is notified.
What is your recommended backup strategy?
We work with customers to develop a solid backup and redundancy plan. Allscripts recommends that the plan be observant of the following recommendations including but not limited to:
* Minimum 2 week tape rotation schedule
* Offsite storage of tapes
* Clinical database should be set to the full recovery model option, and log backups be performed a minimum of 1 hour increments
* Cleaning and maintenance of backup devices per the device manufacturer’s recommendations and instructions
Do you offer remote backup for a client's system?

Depending on whether there are multiple practices on your system, Allscripts provides the option to back up each practice separately or to back up all practices at once. There is an additional cost for this service.
When an interface goes down, how is that information recovered?
The information is not lost. It remains queued until transmitted.
