We are a true ASP (internet/web-based) application that runs on Microsoft's .NET framework. Acumen nEHR can be accessed directly from the internet using a secure username and password, similar to online banking websites.

List of Practice Management systems with which you have existing interfaces To date we support in excess of 800 active interfaces. The criteria for success depends on the capability of the practice management system to interface, the willingness of the practice management system to interface and the cost to the practice. Acumen supports interfaces with most of the large Ambulatory Providers that are willing to interface and a host of regional practice management systems.

Acumen is a company led by nephrologists and our customers are Nephrologists this provides us with unique perspectives of work flow and best practices for nephrology practices.

How are drug allergies and adverse reactions recorded and integrated into the prescribing module? The system alerts the user of interactions at the time of entry and stores these alerts in the database. These interactions can be viewed via reports within Dr First.

Definition: A template is a pre-defined structured capability to rapidly record content including information on clinical conditions or vital signs through mechanisms such as menus, predefined fields or checklis
Acumen provides a starter set of templates which range from chart notes to full CKD progress notes. Additionally we provide a menu selection of template components. Clients can mix and match from this starter set to begin creation of their own custom note. Templates may also be completely customized by the group. Acumen also offers the current PQRS CKD Measures Group as well as a robust chronic kideny disease clinical decision support tool.
Do you charge additional fees for any of templates? No
All starter content, along with full training to build and modify templates, is included in the standard fee.
Can clients customize existing templates? Yes

What are the options for a client to contact your company for support? We offer 24X7 software support. Since our application is fully web-based, software issues can be handled remotely. Support requests can be entered via a phone call, email request or directly through the Acumen nEHR application.
What level and type(s) of support are provided during go-live? Acumen uses a go-live strategy that meets the needs, expectations, and goals of the customer. In doing so, Acumen provides 24/7 go-live support either remotely or on-site. The Acumen go-live team typically includes the Project Manager, Training Specialist, Tech Specialist, and EDI Specialist.
Is a formal users' group, online community forum or other form of social networking community available? Acumen nEHR is hosting our Annual User group meeting in San Diego California 6/18-21 2013.
What are the standard hours of operation during which support is provided? Normal business hours are 8:00am – 6:00pm Central time zone with after hours support 24X7.
What are the steps for a client to escalate a support request? Call the support desk and discuss the issue with a support analyst and request escalation.

All enhancements and upgrades are part of the standard contract.
How are customer requests for enhancements and customizations handled? Clients may submit enhancement requests through Client Support Services. These enhancements are first reviewed by the Client Service Committee and given a preliminary status. If approved, these enhancements are reviewed within 90 days by the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee assigns resources and timelines for enhancements that are approved in this step.
How are drug interaction tools updated in your system? Dr First updates all drug interaction information as part of the service provided. This is included in the nominal fee paid for use of the Dr First application.
How are patient education materials updated in your system? Acumen provides a document archive where clients can upload patient education or link to existing patient education websites. This area of the application is maintained by the client.
How are requests from clients handle for customizations of their system post “go-live”? These are requested through the Client Support Services.
Is remote monitoring available with the ability to alert clients about system problems? No
However, as a web-based solution, we are notified of any general system problem from our internal monitoring systems. Clients are alerted through an embedded message on the system log-on screen.
What is your recommended backup strategy? All data is replicated and backed-up nightly on disk per regular routine. Clients may also request a copy of their data delivered to them on disk on a period basis if required.
Do you offer remote backup for a client's system? Yes
All customer data is remotely backed up on a daily basis at no additional cost. Our company will ship copies of this data to our customers at scheduled intervals for a small fee.
When an interface goes down, how is that information recovered? In the rare circumstance where an interface goes down, Acumen immediately contacts the third party involved and works together with that vendor to re-establish the interface and resubmit the affected transactions.
