The IHS system is inherently slow. it significantly increases time required for a patient encounter, specially with patients who are well or have minor illnesses. |

The IHS EHR is clearly a very comprehensive system; however, it is cumbersome and inefficient. There is an inability to dictate notes (each of the providers I work with must type their progress notes) and difficulty in maintaining accurate medication lists. It is difficult to personalize; i.e. to make your own templates. Frequent outages, the need for critical patches, the lack of adequate technical support and problems with thin clients abound. |
