HHS Names First EHR Certification Bodies

August 30, 2010 – Reported in Modern Healthcare: HHS today named CCHIT and The Drummond Group as the first two bodies qualified to test and certify EHR systems as capable of meeting the ARRA meaningful-use criteria.

Many EHR vendors and clinicians alike will breathe a sign of relief knowing that this final important piece is now moving into place. In order to qualify for funding incentives under the federal IT subsidy program established by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, practices must implement EHR systems that have been certified to meet meaningful use criteria.
