AMA Invites Members to Share their Voice in National EHR Survey
Date:
October 11, 2012
CHICAGO - The American Medical Association (AMA) today invited member physicians to
share their insights and opinions on the latest electronic health record (EHR) technology through
a joint survey with AmericanEHR Partners - a leading physician resource offering access to
unbiased ratings and information about EHR systems and vendors.
Electronic invitations to take part in the EHR survey were shared with patient care physicians
from across the country. Findings from this member survey are intended to support physicians in
the selection and use of EHRs and improve the value of this technology for both physicians and
patients.
“Advances in EHR systems must accommodate a variety of physician practices if the technology
is to meet its full potential to streamline workflow and help deliver better care to patients,”
said AMA President Jeremy A. Lazarus, M.D. “Survey input from physicians will help guide
the AMA and AmericanEHR Partners in our shared commitment to foster advances that help
physicians use health IT to successfully improve health care delivery.”
The AMA joined AmericanEHR Partners last May, adding to a growing list of 20 supporting
organizations including the American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Family
Physicians and the American College of Surgeons. AmericanEHR Partners offers a large and
growing array of free, web-based interactive tools and educational material to assist medical
practices in making critical decision regarding EHR products. In addition, the site provides
guidance and educational content regarding the implementation and effective use of health IT.
Responses to the survey will be confidential and physician identities will not be used in the
analysis or reporting of survey results. All respondents who complete the survey by November 8,
2012 will be entered into a random drawing for a new Apple iPad or one of five $100 Visa gift
cards.
